This year’s show, at the new venue of Vision @ seabraes features a wide selection of work including short films, stunning illustration and fascinating animated stories as well as performance art, installations, experimental animation and innovative printmaking.

In addition to our continuing and highly regarded Masters in Electronic Imaging and Animation & Visualisation, Media Arts & Imaging is proud to extend our MSc options with four new courses designed to enable students to develop advanced skills, knowledge and understanding within their chosen fields.
The Masters Course in 3D Computer Animation, in collaboration with the School of Computing, will prepare graduates as highly skilled professionals in the Animation, Computing, Visual Effects, Interactive and Visualisation industries.
The second new option is the Masters Course in Screendance, designed to prepare graduates within the rapidly expanding field of screendance as skilled professionals in the video arts, film and television sectors. Sonic arts and design is a burgeoning area of media arts practice. With growing interest from students, the art world and creative industries alike, the new course in Sound Art & Design will allow the development of the sonic art practice while gaining a critical, theoretic and technical understanding of the media.
The latest option is Communication Design which offers a wide range of opportunities for individuals to develop both practical and theoretical skills in or between an art and applied design context.
Royal Television Awards 2009. Congratulations to Reza Dolatabadi, Mike Dziennik, Grant Crawford, Lauren McCorkindale, Amy Scott-Murray and Kevin Adams who between them picked up 2 best film awards and 2 runner up places.

Congratulations to Time Based Art student, Lauren McCorkindale whose graduate film Failed has been included in the International Short Film Competition of the 22nd Stuttgart Filmwinter. Once again a graduate from Media Arts & Imaging is making a strong impact on the festival circuit.
The BA (Hons) Time Based Art & Digital Film course reflects the development of a broad curriculum content and emphasis has been placed on the opportunity for students to be able to produce work which might benefit by gaining specific identity as digital film. By formalising the study and practice of digital film alongside time based art and its related distribution technologies we will be offering students a near unique opportunity to thoroughly engage with and shape the creative trajectory of digital film. Congratulations to animation graduate, Reza Dolatabadi, who was awarded Best Animation, for his short film, Khoda, at the Royal Television Awards, 2009. This follows on from his success for Best Animation at London's Canary Wharf Film Festival in 2008.

Congratulations to animation graduates Amy Scott-Murray and Kevin Adams who are second place award winners of the prestigious international Space-Time Animation competition for SIGGRAPH 2008 with their film The Luminous Deep. The film will be screened at SIGGRAPH in Los Angeles between 11th and 15th August. Click on STUDENT MOVIES above to view The Luminous Deep.
